One of my favorite things to do is spend a night on a mountain and watch day slowly fade to night. I’m fascinated by the subtle changes in the world as light drains out of the sky, briefly replaced by brilliant colors, before succumbing to complete darkness. This serves as both subject matter and inspiration for my photography.
By its very nature the photographic process lends itself to experimentation and creativity. I’m not going after the perfect image of an Oregon landmark (though I enjoy that as well) as much as I’m trying to capture the feeling of a moment. Each image is a spontaneous record of a brief point in space and time, created during a single opening of the camera shutter. Digital editing software is used to adjust exposure, color, white balance & cropping.
Born and raised in Minnesota, I was naturally drawn west. I graduated from the University of Puget Sound in 2000 and have called Ashland home since 2004.
